Autumn an optimistic only child. She has been living with her grandmother since she was very young. Autumn has been playing guitar all her life. At an early age she has been teaching guitar lessons at The Riff. The Riff is a special place for her, representing everything she loves and admires about the world.

Allen Walter saw her natural affinity for music and hired her. For a while she was happy to play guitar and work at the music store with Mathew. However, Autumn was soon drawn to the woods besides the music store. She began visiting the woods more than school or work. There she gave up her self for what she has always wanted.

Mathew is a persistent and reliable person. He may not understand many things but he works steady and remains calm. His mother and brother died in a car accident when he was very young. He and his father have been struggling to meet ends ever since the accident. They move back to their old town hoping to find a new beginning.

He is currently living with his father in a run down apartment at the edge of town. Allen found Mathew to be a reliable person and hired him. At The Riff he begins to realize life isn't only about working or school. He starts to play the guitar again with the help of Autumn. However, Autumn starts to wander away from him and music. Mathew persists to find out more about Autumn and the woods she has led him to.

Sarah is the younger sister of Seth. She and Seth live alone together in a house in the woods. Sarah is a shy and enigmatic girl who hesitant to speak to anyone but her brother. She and Seth have been attending private schools their entire life. Her life outside school and music is limited to a few friends and her brother. She excels in playing the viola, the instrument in which her passion lies.

Sarah and Seth lead a calm and quiet life in the woods. Sarah has a natural attraction to nature and the forest. She knows the woods by heart and walks through its trees every day. Sarah's closeness to nature enables her to sense there is something lost in the forest. She walks through the forest nightly longing for others.

Seth is the older brother of Sarah. He is sentimental and considerate of others. He usually thinks of others before himself trying to please everyone. He is protective of his little sister who he is constantly worrying about. Like his sister, he has been attending private schools and has been playing string instruments his entire life.

He enjoys playing the violin but that is not where his heart is. He longs to leave his home and travel to distant places. However he is tied down by his responsibilities to finish school take care of his younger sister. Although he loves his sister dearly he waits for the time he can leave the forest to search for his own.

Allen Walter is the carefree and outgoing owner and manager of The Riff. He started The Riff many years ago but it hadn't really taken off until Autumn and Mathew hired. Allen can easily start things but can never follow through with them. He saw Autumn's love for music and Mathew's work ethic and hired them immediately.

For a while The Riff became popular for its music and its smiling employees. When Autumn and Mathew left, Allen had to take things into his own.
