How to draw anime/manga ears:

Introduction
Ears seem to be very different from artist to artist. Some make them very detailed and others choose a simplified shape. All have the general shape of an ear, being wider at the top and thinner at the bottom. The folds of the ears are varied greatly but all have that small flap of ear that covers the ear hole. The following are examples of ears.

Various ears
The round simple ears are found in anime like Astro Boy. The detailed ears are found in realistic anime like Patlabor or the Kenshin OAV. I go for the moderate detailed ear with 2-3 lines for folds in the ear.

How to Draw Example 2 (Ears at different angles)
Ears are unusual to draw at different angles, so I provided this example. When the ear is viewed from the front or back remember that the ear is not totally flat but with different levels of thickness. Always try to convey the shape of the ear by making sure the proportions and lengths are correct in all angles. The ear is usually where the back of the jaw and where the end of the hair meet. For more placement tips go to the face/head tutorial.
